Iris Ilao

Iris has been a dedicated board member of kidSTREAM Children's Museum since 2020, serving as the chairwoman of the Development Committee. Her involvement has been instrumental in the museum's growth and success, including leading educational programs like the First Lego League Expo and actively contributing to the Capital Campaign Cabinet. Through her efforts, Iris has helped raise the funds necessary to open the museum’s doors in 2025, supporting its mission to inspire and empower children in Ventura County to become critical thinkers, innovators, and lifelong learners. Iris is especially passionate about kidSTREAM’s commitment to ensuring access to early childhood educational experiences for all children, regardless of socioeconomic, physical, developmental, or emotional ability.

As a foster mom and advocate for foster care, Iris is deeply committed to supporting vulnerable children and families.  In one of her most fulfilling volunteer roles, Iris mentored a 'little sister' through Big Brothers Big Sisters for 10 years, helping her achieve the milestone of being the first person in her family to graduate from high school   Iris also supports various organizations, including 100 Women Who Care Conejo Valley, Childfund, Compassion International, The Conejo Valley Village, Raising Hope, Organic Soup Kitchen, American Cancer Society, and James Storehouse. In 2023, Iris was honored with the Outstanding Citizen Award by the Filipino American Council of Ventura County.

In addition to her role as a wealth manager and Certified Retirement Counselor® (CRC®) at Powell Financial Group, Iris has been an entrepreneur for over 27 years, owning and managing several local businesses. Her entrepreneurial experience complements her passion for helping clients align their personal values and finances with their philanthropic goals. Iris finds great satisfaction in guiding individuals and families toward achieving their goals while making a positive impact in their communities.

Above all, Iris values spending quality time with her husband and three children. Whether attending her kids’ sports games, camping, traveling, reading, or cooking, she cherishes making memories with her loved ones and continually seeks ways to give back to her community in meaningful ways.
